No fewer than seventy five Christian pilgrims from Kwara State will today depart the Muritala Muhammed International Airport for Israel and Rome.
This was revealed last night by Secretary of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr. Anthony Abu.
In a telephone chat with this medium, he said arrangement has been concluded for the airlifting of the pilgrims.
Meanwhile the pilgrims were charged to pray for the peaceful conduct of the forthcoming general elections.
The Kwara State Deputy Governor, Elder Peter Kisira gave the charge yesterday at the valedictory service for the pilgrims at the Christ House of Freedom Ministries, Pipeline, Ilorin.
Elder Kisira urged them to offer special prayers for peace and tranquillity in the state and to also pray for the leadership to lead the nation in the path of progress.
The Deputy Governor called on the pilgrims to portray themselves and the nation in good light and be good ambassadors in every situation during their stay in the Holy land.
He implored them to obey the rules of the host country and do nothing that would tarnish the good image of the state and the nation.
Elder Kisira explained that the state had no negative records a feat that has earned it accolades from the Federal authorities on yearly basis calling on the Pilgrims to sustain the record.
He noted that the state government had prepared necessary grounds for the state Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board to make their stay in the Holy land memorable and eventful.
He commended the pilgrims for their commitment and burning desire to visit the Holy land.
Also speaking, the leader of delegation and Special Assistant on Religion Christian Affairs, Rev. Cornelious Fawenu thanked the state government for its support and encouragement.
In his words of exhortation, Rev. Mike Adeyemi of the Vineyard Christian Centre, Ilorin called on the pilgrims to follow the footsteps of Christ and pray for the nation.
Speaking on the theme “in his steps”, Rev. Adeyemi implored them to have strong faith in the Lord and show love to others.
