Saraki facilitates N500m projects to Kamaldeen Varsity
Towards smooth take-off of Muhammad Kalmaldeen University, Ilorin, Kwara State, Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has facilitated infrastructural projects worth N500m to the proposed institution.
The official foundation laying ceremony of one of the projects, the university hospital, was performed on Friday at the permanent site of the institution in Ogidi area of Ilorin metropolis.
Some of the projects facilitated to the institution, an offshoot of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, at the instance of the Senate President include road network, electricity, hostel accommodation, and furniture.
The management has already taken delivery of the furniture needed for the take-off of the university, which was a personal donation of Saraki, who is the Baba Adini of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria worldwide.
The institution is named after the late renowned Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Kamaldeen Al-Adabbiy.
Speaking at the event, the Senate President said the construction of the project was in response to the request of the management of the proposed university.
Saraki, who spoke through the Director-General, Abubakar Bukola Saraki Mandate Constituency Office, Ilorin, Alh Musa Abdullahi, recalled that the management of the proposed institution had told him that the hospital was at the behest of the National Universities Commission (NUC), which insisted that a standard university must have a hospital.
Describing the institution as historical project, he assured that he would not rest on his oars in ensuring that it sees the light of the day and secures approval of the NUC.
“When the President of the Senate visited this institution, the management of the University requested for a standard hospital, which should be sited within the premises of this institution.
“In response to this request, the Senate President facilitated a complete construction of an ultra-modern clinic for this institution, which we are performing the foundation laying ceremony. The cost of construction for this edifice and other projects worth N500million”, Abdullahi said.
Also speaking, the Khalifah Al-Adabby, Alhaji Ahmad Olayiwola Kamaldeen, said the society was passionate about commencement of academic activities at the institution, which he identified as novel.
He thanked the Senate President for standing firmly and continuously rendering support to the proposed university, praying that Almighty Allah to elevate him.
The foundation laying of the ultra modern hospital was witnessed by prominent Islamic clerics, including the national missioner of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Ayara.
