Members of the public plying Ajasse-Ipo road, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, witnessed one of the greatest shocks of their lives after discovering early Friday, the lifeless body of a madman macheted and dumped on the street by suspected ritualist.
When this medium visited the scene Friday afternoon, motorists, motorcyclists and other road users were seen taking a glimpse of the lifeless body.
A woman said to be relative of the victim was sighted at the scene weeping profusely and praying to God to grant the deceased eternal rest.
Efforts by our reporter to speak with the middle-aged woman proved abortive as she lost her voice while trying to utter some words.
However when contacted, some traders within the vicinity, said they discovered the lifeless body when they resumed their daily activities around 7am.
A commercial motorcyclist, who simply identified himself as Sule, confirmed that he saw the body on the road while conveying a passenger to office adding that the death of the madman remains a mystery.
According to him, the madman could have been killed by ritualist and dumped on the road after they may have removed parts of his body.
“While I was conveying my customer to the office around 7am, I saw the body just beside the main road. Though I was shocked, I however parked my motorcycle to see if I could help but I discovered that the head had been cut off.
“He could have been killed by ritualist and dumped here. This road; Admiralty drive is horrifying. Almost every day, we record accounts of ritual activities,” he stated.
Similarly, motorcyclists, who have their park located to the scene of the incident but begged not to have their names in print said that such nefarious act is not strange to the area adding that the act may have been carried out in the middle of the night.
According to them suspected ritualists have turned the ‘Admiralty drive’ to where they carry out diabolical sacrifices every night saying efforts of the state government to address the recurrence has yielded no result so far.
“As at the time we resumed work by 7am, the lifeless body was already dry, it means, the incident happened around 1am, he (the madman) may have been killed by ritualist or knocked down by reckless driver. Meanwhile while some people claimed that the head had been detached from the body, others said it was never cut off but mutilated.
An Air force official who also spoke on condition of anonymity revealed that the madman, until his death lived opposite Stella Obasanjo multi-purpose hall, under a tree planted on the median kerb.
“The madman built his house under that tree, opposite Stella Obasanjo multi-purpose hall, everyday he walks towards Unity road but returned to his house. It’s a pity he met his death in a way no one can explain,” he stressed.
Efforts by this medium to ensure that the dead body was removed from the road proved abortive as the security operatives from ‘A’ Division Police station whom the Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi who was contacted by this medium claimed will come and evacuate it failed to show up as at the time our reporter left the scene around 2:15pm on Friday.
