The Kwara Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) has disclosed that  it will begin to serve taxpayers across  the state with payment notification as from April 1st,  2019.

The Head of Corporate Affairs of the Agency,  Mr. Temi Kolawole made this known during a chat with Pilot Business, on Sunday.

He said, ” We will commence serving notices of assessment to taxpayers on 1st April 2019. This include self-employed taxpayers, micro businesses, street shops and artisans.

“The notification is to inform them on how much they are supposed to pay for 2019 fiscal year. They are now free to either pay or object with evidence presented to them.”

Kolawole explained that the right to objection is 30 days from day of receipt of notice of assessment by taxpayers.

He added that the second and final notification will be issued out on October 15th, 2019, after which the agency will swing into action by issuing penalties to defaulters.

The agency’s  spokesman urged all  taxpayers to comply with the notification as it is a means of contributing their quota to the development of the state.

He said, ” Everyone in the society has the obligation of contributing to the  development of the society and this can be achieved through tax payment.”
