Zakat foundation feeds 500 Muslims in Ilorin

A faith-based Non-Governmental Organisation, Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation (Z&F) has fed no fewer than five hundred people selected across the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State under its Iftar Saim (meals for breaking fast) project.
The programme was held at Z&S Ilorin office located at Irewolede raod, Ilorin on Friday.
According to its state coordinator/officer in charge of Kwara State office, Ustaz Muhammadu Mukhtar Thani said the foundation over the years have continued impacting on the lives of the poor and Needy.
He said the distribution of items which include food stuff, beverages, groundnut oil, sugar and milk among others to individuals, orphanage homes, physically challenged people and prison yards was aimed at bringing relief to those in need especially during the month of Ramadan.
Ustaz Muhammadu Mukhtar Thani noted that the objective of the Iftar Saim was to create an enabling environment for indigent Muslims to actively participate in Ramadan fast and give them a sense of belonging.
According to him, the programme also aimed at providing a window of opportunity for the wealthy to earn Allah’s blessings by assisting the less-privileged towards maximising the rewards of the Holy month.
In his lecture, the Guest Lecturer, Dr Yahya Toyin Murtada of the Arabic unit, Kwara State University, Malete emphasised that prophet of Islam encouraged Muslim to extend of charity to the needy and the indigent ones in the society especially in the month Ramadan for multiple rewards from Allah.
He noted that societal development can only be achieved when Zakat is paid as and when due and channeled to appropriate quarters.
