Gidado FC wins 1st Kwara U-17 grassroots football cup

 

Gidado FC won 4-3 to become a Champion in the just concluded first Kwara State grassroots U-17 Football Championship beats Flash bombers FC 5-4 in a penalty shootout played at the weekend, at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.
Gidado FC who rated the best in the competition won their first two games by beating Kwara Football Academy 4-3 in penalty shootout, Barrier SC 4-3 in a semifinal also in a penalty and finally beat Flash Bombers 5-4 in a keen contested to claim the title.
You recalled that eight teams participated in the competition that began last Saturday, with four teams eliminated at first, four qualified for semifinal place, while two teams played the Final.
The competition was organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth development to discover talents, encourage and develop grassroots Sports in our community is aimed to become yearly event to discover more talents.
Barrier SC beats Dynamic FC in a third place match to win the Browns medals of the competition.
The Chairman House committee on Education and Sports, Hon. Abdulrahuf Abdulrahaman, who represented the Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly at the occasion, give Kudos to the organizers for investment in Youth.
Abdurafiu said, one of the greatest achievement is to invest heavily in youth saying, any Money expended in Youth development is not a wasted spending, describing it as a business that has a huge future benefit, suggesting it to become yearly event as to nurture more talents.
