8 injured as another building collapses in Lagos

No less than eight people have been reportedly injured after a
one-storey building collapsed in Oshodi area of Lagos State.
The building is said to have collapsed yesterday at No 35, Adesanya
Street, Mafoluku area of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area.
The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency
(LASEMA), Oke Osanyintolu, confirmed that no life was lost while eight
persons sustained injuries.
LASEMA also took to its Twitter account to disclose that two people
were trapped and rescued when the building went down.
“A storey building at the address suddenly came down with two people
said to be trapped and rescued and taken to a nearby hospital by
neighbours before the arrival of the Agency’s LRT,โ it tweeted.
โThe building was undergoing illegal renovation before it collapsed
this morning. There is an urgent need for complete demolition of the
building before it causes any further disaster.โ
On June 13, three people were hospitalised following the collapse of a
storey building under construction in the Magodo area of the state.
Also in March, a three-storey building housing a primary school
collapsed at รta-Fร รกjรฌ, Lagos Island, killing at least 12 persons,
including nine children.
