Gabriel Jesus has been talking up how sheer faith inspired him to score a goal and provided an assist for the second in BraziI’s 2-0 win against Argentina in a semi-final match of the ongoing 2019 Copa America early Wednesday morning (Nigerian time).
Jesus netted the curtain-raiser in the 19th minute while Roberto Firmino sealed the win against Messi’s La Albiceleste with a 71st minute goal.
Jesus told Globo after the match that he had confidence he would score against Argentina, and that faith was like a tonic that got him harrying the opponent’s defence.
โI’m speechless. I consider all games important, even the ones that I do not do well in, because I take lessons from it,โ Manchester City forward told Globo.
โToday I came into the game thinking I would score. The other times I did not say that. But because I came very confident.
โAt the beginning of the game I got a ball and went up. First I made a mistake and then I got the goal. Firmino managed to find me very well and that gave me confidence.โ
