A prominent lawyer in the country and former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prosecutor, barrister Wahab Shittu on Sunday reacted to his alleged rant against the President Buhari led Federal Government over the sudden withdrawal of the corruption case against Senator Danjuma Goje.
The former Governor of Gombe State who is now a senator had been accused by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of embezzlement of funds running into billions of naira while his tenure lasted.
But the sudden drop of charges against him by the anti-graft commission after a meeting with the president Muhammadu Buhari where he was reportedly prevailed upon to drop his senate president ambition for Ahmed Lawan has raised dust over the sincerity of the Ibrahim Magu led EFCC.
It also fuelled the rumour that the commission was been selective in the corruption fight going after the opposition party members and sparing the APC who have been accused of graft.
During the week, online report that Barrister Shittu who has been on the case for long raged over the action of the Federal Government went viral.
But speaking with our reporter on telephone last night, Shittu said “I don’t want to comment on the matter because I am involved. The report was completely fake news, somebody just attributed it to me and I had been debunk. It may have been written by somebody who was following the trial. I didn’t speak to any journalist and I don’t intend to speak to one”.
