Owolabi: VP, Osinbajo visits family of slain corps member
Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, has paid a condolence visit to the Zaria home of slain corps member and Channels TV reporter, Precious Owolabi in Zaria.
The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Vice President, Laolu Akande, yesterday, disclosed this on Twitter.
Akande said Osinbajo was accompanied by Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai as they both paid a visit to the family of the slain journalist in a move to ease the burden of tragedy that hit the family.
Owolabi, a corps member serving with Channels TV, was killed while covering the violent confrontation between police and the Shiites in Abuja. The promising journalist was killed alongside deputy commissioner of police, A.K Umar, who was in charge of operations for the force’s FCT command.
In a statement on his verified Twitter handle, Akande said: ”VP Osinbajo in Kaduna State to commiserate with family of Precious Owolabi, the youth corps member killed last week during the Shiites protests in Abuja.
”He is accompanied by Gov Rufai, who just received him at Kaduna Airforce base.”
The media aide also accompanied the post with a video where the vice president was seen having conversation with the bereaved parents of the late promising journalist.
Owolabi was a 23-year-old reporter with Channels Television. He was said to have been hit by a stray bullet during the protest in Abuja.
