Murdered Ganmo prince’s brother raises alarm over threat to life

By Ahmed Ajikobi
A Prince in Ganmo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Yekini Kolawole has cried out over alleged attempt on his life by suspected hoodlums over a protracted land dispute.
This is coming barely two weeks after his brother, Ibrahim was mauled down by his assailants over same issue.
Speaking to Pilot Crime on the development, Kolawole said as a result of constant threats to his life and that of his family members, he could no longer move freely within the community.
“Myself and family members can no longer move freely in the town as hoodlums keep harassing us. They even invited some of their people from Lagos to occupy our land.
“We are not safe anymore in the community. It has gotten to a stage that some of the hoodlums attacked and threatened to kill me.
He added that his complaint to the police over the issue has not yielded the desired result, adding that his life is in danger having lost two brothers to the matter.
“The last time they launched an attack on us, I reported to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ganmo, who promised to arrest the situation, but nothing has changed.
“Few days after I lodged the complaint to the police, the hoodlums killed my younger brother in cold blood because he told them that the land they wanted to sell does not belong to them,”the prince narrated.
He said the hoodlums converge most times on the river bank of Odo Okun in the community and operate unchallenged.
Speaking on the murder of his brother, he implored the police to fish out the perpetrators of the act and bring them to book.
“I know police can arrest them but I don’t know why they are yet to. Another set of hoodlums in the area are threatening us again. Are they powerful than the police or above the law?, “he queried.
The prince further said that the suspected hoodlums are currently planning a carnival, which according to him is another threat to peace of the community.
“There is no year that these people organise their carnival that lives will not be lost as a result of bloody clash that ensue. Apart from that, they always attack people of Olugana family,” he added.
He then called on the Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the state Commissioner of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to come to their aid and ensure safety of residents of Ganmo.
Meanwhile, When contacted on the development, the state Police spokesman, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi said no arrest has been made in connection to the incident, adding that the matter is still under investigation.
“I have not received any information of any arrest pertaining to that incident. The matter is still undergoing investigation.”
It would be recalled that the 27-year-old prince and son of Olugana of Ganmo was murdered in cold blood penultimate Monday, while his brother, Ismail was killed in similar manner in 2013.
