โ€ฆdemand more TV stations, completion of Jebba-Mokwa road

One week after the return of Alhaji Lai Mohammed as the minister of Information and Culture and inauguration of Gbemisola Saraki as Minister of State for Transportation, Kwarans in separate interviews with the duo of KAYODE ADEOTI and MIKE ADEYEMI, set agenda for the two members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet from the state.

They should fix our roads – Legal practitioner, Ahmed Abaya
For Sen. Gbemisola Saraki, the expectation is so high especially from Ilorin people. She is the Minister for State on Transportation. The Jebba road needs urgent attention; the rate of accidents on this road is alarming. The roads are bad; something urgent must be done to save lives of the road users.ย  We expect that during her tenure, she should do something fast to put our roads in better shape. For Lai Mohammed, I want to encourage that he should be truthful in the report of government activities. We have seen his impact on NTA Ilorin but we want more.
We want more TV stations, rail link to Lokoja – Muhammed Idowu Akande
The major agenda for the two ministers is how to ensure the development of Kwara State. The information minister should ensure transmission from analogue to digital in television. Kwara State deserves at least two national television stations, aside NTA Ilorin, there is no other functional TV station. This is a challenge to the minister. As for the Minister of state for Transportation, the rail from Abuja to Lokoja is almost completed; Sen Gbemi Saraki must ensure that the rail link Lokoja to Ilorin. Life will be better if this is achieved because traveling by rail will be made easy and transportation as a whole will be cheap. It is also a challenge for them to see that the Freedom of Information bill is passed into law in Kwara, since the two of them are of the same party, not in opposition; they need to work on this bill to ensure freedom of information.

They must key into PMB’s anti-corruption crusade – Issa Manzumaย
They should complete the developmental agenda and align with next level agenda of the Federal Government to reposition the economy and ensure infrastructural development. We will also be proud of them to key into the Federal Government’s anti-corruption crusade and I pray that after the expiration of their tenures, they won’t be found wanting.

Job provision, empowerment is key – Ahmad Hussein Folorunsho
Human capital development is very essential and it should be taken ย serious by our ministers. They should also look for ways of providing job opportunities for our youths, this will help reduce crime rate. Our education sector is in bad state, they should look for means of turning things around to better the lives of the citizens.

They should industrialise Kwara ย – Abdul Tunde Gegele
We want them to move Kwara forward; they should be able to create employment for our teeming youths. They should make Kwara lively, commercialised and industrialised. We hope they will do much because our expectations are very high on them. They are trusted and tested politicians. We want rapid economic emancipation.

Lai Moh’d should attract goodwill to Kwara – Mohammed Abdulkadri
The return of Lai Mohammed as Minister of Information and Culture has been widely commended by Kwarans and by extension Nigerians as a round peg in a round hole.
In his second coming, as a frontline member of the Federal Executive Council and as a strong voice in that regard, he needs to deploy his wide clout of connection to attract goodwill to Kwara State.
The onus is on Lai Mohammed to cooperate and collaborate with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in his determined efforts to build solid information management, infrastructure, reposition Radio Kwara, Kwara TV and The Herald newspaper.
On her part, Gbemisola Saraki should work with the minister of state for Transportation, and federal lawmakers from Kwara to attract local and foreign investors to develop new industrial base and to resuscitate the moribund industries like Bacita Sugar Company, Jebba Paper Mill and Haromny Holdings.
Such development will create jobs for our teeming unemployed and underemployed youths.

Gbemi should improve Kwara road networks โ€“Akeem Abdulsalam
Kwarans are eagerly waiting to feel the impact of the new ministers especially Sen. Gbemi Saraki in terms of good road network.
I know she (Gbemi) would perform well. But she should give preferential touches to Kwara roads so that at the end of her tenure, her legacy will speak for her.

They should get our youths federal appointments- Pastor Moses Ayeniย
I think their primary targets should be their immediate constituency which is Kwara.
The two ministers has the onerous task to support the state government by intervening in job creation and employment drive of the present administration. They should help in fixing our army of unemployed graduates in federal agencies and parastatals under their jurisdiction.
“They should endeavour to build enduring strategy with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq without rancour orchestrated by some jobless politicians.

Gbemi should initiate metro rails in Kwara – ย Engr Oni Iyiola
Kwara is indeed lucky to have two ministers with the popular Amazon, Gbemisola ย Saraki as minister of State for Transport.
Transport ministry is a vibrant and versatile ministry that can collaborate with the Kwara State Government to build new metro rails in the state capital for easy connectivity with other parts of the state.
Gbemi needs to build robust working template with other elected and political appointees to fix the state’s transport and infrastructural deficit and also raise the bar of employment opportunities.
She needs to spread her wide tentacles to tackle the challenges facing Kwara women that have turned them into street beggars and others engaging in promiscuity.
She can better the lots of our women and children by lobbying her counterparts in the Women Affairs and Social Development ministry.
