Allegedly Certificate forgery:  4 NYSC members docked in Kwara

No fewer than four members of the National Youths Service Corp (NYSC) were yesterday, docked by an Ilorin Magistrate Court for allegedly, participating in the 2019 scheme through fraudulent means.
The four of them, Eziem Francisca, Igbo Hilary, Amaechi Kisito Chima, and Duru Ifeanyi were said to be fake Corp members who were fraudulently mobilised.
The police First Information Report (FIR) stated that, following the directive of the Director-General of the NYSC, the Kwara State coordinator of the scheme, had written a petition letter and forwarded same to the Commissioner of Police in respect of the matter.
The letter disclosed that the suspects were fraudulently mobilised to participate in the ongoing 2019 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course at Yipata Camp, Kwara State.
The Police report alleged further that the suspects were apprehended at the camp and handed over to the Police for legal action.
In the investigation carried out at the State Criminal Investigative and Intelligent Department, Police Headquarters, the suspects all confessed that they procured fake documents in order to participate in the scheme.
According to Police report, suspects added that their inability to graduate from the Imo State University, Owerri led them into the act.
The Police report also stated that the suspects resorted to the forgery as a result of various academic problems which they encountered while in the institution.
The suspects also said to have procured fraudulently fake notification of degree examination results which they tender to get the NYSC.
Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to apprehend culprits who assisted the suspects in securing the fake documents.
The suspects, for the second time were arraigned before Magistrate Ibrahim on Wednesday for the offence of ineligible to participate in the NYSC scheme, contrary to Section 13 (2) (a) of NYSC Act, Cap N.84 laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004.
The prosecutor, Yusuf Nasir prayed the court to either remand the suspects in prison or police custody pending the completion of the police investigation into the matter.
The Magistrate, in his short ruling, ceded to the submission of the prosecutor, ordered the remand of the suspects in police custody while the matter was adjourned to today, Thursday.
