Kwara FRSC Commander warns motorists against bribing officers

The Kwara State newly posted Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety
Corps (FRSC), Jonathan Adenrele has warned the public against bribing
officers and men on duty.
He made the disclosure during an interview with this medium in Ilorin,
on Monday, while responding to questions on a special exercise tagged;
‘Ember months’.
He said, “The corps is highly disciplined and doesn’t tolerate the
motorists bribing our officers and men when they commit an offence.
Any officer caught taking bribe will be properly delt with in
accordance with laid down laws.
“We have sensitised our officers during the ’ember months’ to monitor
the activities of motorists who violate traffic rules and report them
to the appropriate quarters.
“As a matter of fact, we’re putting on programmes to ensure safety of
the roads for people to move freely without rancour. Part of it is
what we have last weekend; a patrol called “free vehicle safe ticket”
it is a kind of patrol that does not require ticket while checking
vehicle. We will stop your vehicle and analyse it, all the
deficiencies will be pointed out to the driver who will be given a
ticket for free as warning.
“Whoever obeys the warning will not have issues with the road safety
during ’ember months’.
The Commander stressed that they are also collaborating with other
relevant agencies that has role to play on the highway to ensure
safety of lives and property.
He noted that there is public enlightenment already ongoing in
preparation of the ember months in various churches, mosques and
garages.
Adenrele revealed that they have mobile courts across the state to
prosecute traffic offenders.
He said “we are collaborating with the kwara board of internal revenue
and the minister of justice to put together the mobile court.
