NGO donates solar powered boreholes to 3 Kwara communities

Three communities in Adewole ward, Ilorin West Local Government Area
of Kwara State have benefitted solar powered boreholes.
The boreholes were donated by a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO),
Abdulmumini Sanni Jawondo Foundation in a bid to ameliorate suffering
of residents as a result of problem of water supply.
The Boreholes water project were commissioned at Alanamu, Adewole, and
Badari wards respectively, yesterday by the Deputy Governor of the
state Mr. Kayode Alabi, who was represented by Barrister Hassan
Kehinde Garba.
In his address at the occasion the Founder of the Foundation, Alhaji
Abdulmumini Sanni Jawondo said the water project, is the first phase
of its kind.
He added that the Foundation, which is into philanthropic programmes
has a target to drill minimum of 50 boreholes across various local
governments in the state.
Jawondo said the foundation is ready to partner with the state
government on the similar project, such as counterpart funding in
order to reduce the burden on the government and ensure quality.
He explained that the foundation centred it activities on the
provision of educational supports, rural health programme and
empowerment of youths.
“Our youth empowerment programme will soon kick off in few weeks time
and it will be well structured to ensure it get to the less privileged
people in the communities”. He  further said.
In his speech,  the Deputy Governor applauded the gesture of Jawondo
and challenge other wealthy people in the state to take a cue from him
to complement government effort at community development.
He said the state government is ready to partner with individuals,
groups and organisations to ensure the development of the state.
