Leicester City Coach Davies Hails Iheanacho Impressive Display In Carabao Cup Win Vs Luton
Leicester City assistant manager Chris Davies has heaped plaudits on
Kelechi Iheanacho after the forward scored once in the Carabao Cup 4-0
win against Luton Town on Tuesday.
Iheanacho, who took the place of Ayoze Perez in the 71st minute,
scored Leicester Cityโs fourth goal of the game four minutes from
time.
It was the Nigeria international first appearance of the season for the club.
โIt is great for Kelechi because he has been outside of the squad, let
alone the team, just recently but heโs been working hard in training,
the manager has given him an opportunity tonight and heโs come in and
heโs not been on the pitch for long but heโs made an impact,โ Davies
said after the game.
โHeโs scored, heโs pressed the game well, he showed a good hunger, a
good appetite, and itโs an instinctive finish to chip the goalkeeper.โ
Davies further hinted that Iheanacho and the other fringe players
paraded on Tuesday got the nod because of their impressive work in
training.
โThe manager (Brendan Rodgers)โ message to the players was that he was
picking the team because of how well theyโve been working. He believed
that they could put in a good performance and get a result and we
certainly didnโt underestimate Luton,โhe stated.
