Policeman, guard killed in Ilorin NNPC robbery attack

Armed robbers on Sunday attacked the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Mega filling station in Asa-Dam area of Ilorin, Kwara State killing a policeman and a guard.
The policeman simply identified as Kabir and the guard whose name was given as James were said to be on duty at the time of the incident which happened in the wee hour of the day.
Pilot Crime gathered that the suspected armed robbers also broke into the safe of the filling station and made away with undisclosed amount of money.
When our reporters visited the crime scene, they were told that the station Manager and his Assistant were at the Adewole D division of the Kwara State Police Command on invitation concerning the incident.
A staff who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the dead bodies of the policeman and the guard were discovered Sunday morning.
“The dead bodies of the policeman and the guard were discovered the next morning. Two attendants who arrived at about 6am could not gain access into the filling station because it was still locked and the policeman and guard were not in sight, which was unusual.
“After waiting for sometime, they jumped over the gate only to discover the body of the policeman on the floor. The remains of the other guard was found in his security room at the back of the filling station.
The source said there were visible machete cuts on the head of the security operatives, adding that their remains had been deposited in morgues in an undisclosed hospital in Ilorin.
When contacted on the development, the Kwara State Police Command Spokesman, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the robbery incident, adding that the matter is still undergoing investigation.
