Kwese Basketball: Kwara Falcons maintains home invincibility

Godspower Ossai notched 13 points and four rebounds against his former team (Delta Force) to give Kwara Falcons yet another home triumph in the Kwese Premier Basketball League match played on Saturday at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.
Pappoe James and David Godwin also dropped 11 points each to help the host to record their 4th successive victories while Malachi had a game high of 22 points for the visitors.
The host were outscored in the first quarter (9-13) by a well determine Delta force side but came out blazing in the second quarter to eventually get tied 26 26.
With about 2:13 seconds left to play, Falcons ran a 6-0 to end the second quarter 34 – 31.
Malachi of Delta Force dropped a total of 13 points in the third quarter but the host had solution to everything thrown at them by the visitors as it ended 60 – 56.
It was a tough battle during the final quarter which saw the game tied thrice.
Falcons however stretched the lead with 0:54 seconds remaining when Ossai made an emphatic layup to end the game 80 – 76.
Giving his thoughts after the game, Coach Adewunmi aderemi of falcons made it known that his team performed below expectation:
“We didn’t play well today to be candid. We missed several basketball during the course of the game which would have had a huge difference in the score but all the same it shows we still need to keep working hard ahead of the conference six”.
Kwara Falcons will next week Thursday face Nigeria Customs in Lagos. The game was supposed to be played in Ilorin but was moved to Lagos because of television coverage.
