St. Anthony’s Sec School dominates Kwara athletics tourney

 

This year’s All-Kwara Secondary School Athletics Championship was
concluded at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex on
Friday, with a pledge by the association to continue to give the young
ones the opportunity to exhibit their God’s given talents.
Over 120 participants from schools in the three Senatorial Districts
participated in the competition, which the Chairman of Kwara Athletics
Assictaion, Alhaji Tunde Abdulkareem described as rewarding.
Among the events competed for at the meet are 100m, 200m, 400m and
1500m, high and long jump, 4×100m, 4×400m relays.
Ibe Amaechi and Aliu Ezekiel, both of St. Anthony’s Secondary School
won the female and male 100m race respectively in the junior category,
in contests that attracts a lot of interest.
Osein Barakat of Ansar-ul Islam and Abdulrazaq Taofikat of Ogbo
Community Grammar School, Omu-Aran came second and third in the female
100m, while Kolade Muideen of Offa Grammar School, Offa and Ayebulu
Eric came second and third in the male 100m race.
In the 100m Senior race, Omotosho Ayomide  and Mohammed Mufuliat, both
of St. Anthony Secondary School) came first and second in the female
race, with Yusuf Barakat coming third.
Aina Precious and Aro Iyanu Olowa also won the first and second
positions for St. Anthony’s Secondary School in the 100m Senior male
race, as Adedeji Yashir of Ansarul-Islam, Offa came third.
In the 400m, Omotosho Ayomide won the female contest for St.
Anthnony’s, while Yusuf Baraka and Hamza Shukurat came second and
third. Olayiwola Daniel and Jamiu Taiwo of Ansarul-Islam came first
and second in the male contest, while Abdullateef Ibrahim of United
Secondary School, Ilorin came third.
St. Anthony’s Secondary School also dominated the long jump event,
winning the female and male gold through Mohammed Mufuliat and Aina
Precious.
Babatunde Muminat of Apata Ajele Secondary School and Afolabi Nafisat
of Offa Grammar School won silve and bronze in the female long jump,
while Olatundun Boluwatife and Adedeji Yashir, both of Ansarul-Islam,
Offa won silver and bronze.
