The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Soliu has charged
Muslims to be steadfast on good deeds adding that such action
exhibited before their demise would determine afterlife experience
with the angels in the grave.
He stated this during his sermon at the Ilorin Centre mosque of Ilorin
situated at Oja Oba, and advised Muslims to be wary of the
inevitability of death and the need for them to prepare to encounter
it with the fear of Allah.
Sheikh Saliu who enjoined Muslims towards gratefulness to Allah’s
(SWT) mercies, blessings and guidance among others, used the anology
of the ant’s thankfulness to Allah as presented in the Qur’an despite
its size and struggle for survival.
He further advised against heedlessness and some worshiper’s on the
signs of Allah and transient nature of life pleasures as well as its
ephemeral period and deceit neglecting the fast approaching hereafter
Chief Imam frowned at the action of Muslim who still harbour grudges
and hardened minds against people failing to heed Allah’s admonition
as admonished by scholars over time.
“Each soul shall be rewarded with what it put forward in deeds and
worship, therefore Allah should be feared.”
While citing the Prophet’s (SAW) hadith which described the enormity
and torment of the hellfire, he warned Muslims to always strive to do
and promote good deeds to avoid Allah’s wrath.
