COVID 19: Agronomist appeals to Kwara govt to exempt dealers

An Ilorin based Agronomist, Mr Babatunde Oluwatosin has appealed to Kwara state government to exempt Agro dealers and input suppliers from the total lockdown.
Recalled that the Kwara state government has declared a total total lockdown in the state beginning from Tomorrow (Wednesday) to curtail the spread of the Corona virus pandemic.
The government however exempted farmers with registered identity cards to carryout their farming activities across the state.
Speaking to this medium on Tuesday, Mr. Oluwatosin stressed that it is important for the state government to consider their activities also as they sell agricultural input like Agrochemicals , fertilizers, seeds,farm machineries to farmers.
He said “our operations is seasonal and at this farming season most farmers need us to carryout their farming activities. We heard about their exemption from the lockdown therefore, we are appealing to the government to consider our activities for exemption to enhance effective foods productivity in the state.
“this will be a strategic plan to curb famine in the state, the farmers will find it difficult to farm and access agricultural implements and chemicals if we’re not available to them.
According to him all Agro dealers will obey the universal law of World Health Organization (WHO) on constant hands wash, wearing of face masks, keeping distance and avoidance of social gathering to curb the virus.
The Agronomist applauded Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRasaq’s effort against the spread of the virus in the state.
“I commend the tremendous effort of the Governor by the constitution of the COVID 19 Committee, distribution of palliatives and collaborating with the security agencies for stringent observation of the lockdown by the populace.
