RAMAT CUP: Kwara tackles Oyo in Q/Finals, tomorrow
The boys were separated from the men and seeds from the chaffs on Monday at the Mahaha Sports Complex venue of the group matches of the ongoing 37th Ramat Cup U-16 tournament in Kano.
True to expectations Rivers U-16 team topped Group A table with 10 points alongside Ogun that also garnered the same points but with inferior goals difference. to qualify for the quarter finals Sad though Zamfara and Jigawa failed to honour their last group matches knowing that the outcome will not change the situation. The Organisers The Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria YSFON have promised to visit them with heavy sanctions for their unsportsmanly conduct
In group B Kogi eventually made it after earning 12 points from 15 which therefore pushed Ekiti to the Second place after gathering 9 points. Sokoto were unlucky. They ended up with 6 points despite a very tough fight.
Group C was another tight group with Bauchi and Oyo claiming 10 points each. Bauchi however led the group with +9 superior goals advantage as against Oyo’s +6. Plateau state were at the Bottom of the table with no point
For group D it was another tale of survival of the fittest as Kaduna and Kwara states fought a head to head battle and ended up with 10 points apiece but Kwara clinched the top of the table with +10 goals advantage as against Kaduna’s +8 Edo state were unlucky. They ended up with 6 points which were not enough to see them through to the Quarter finals
According to the organisers Rivers state will face Ekiti in the quarter finals on Wednesday at 9.00am, while Kogi will tackle Ogun same day at 10:30am Bauchi and Kaduna will try their superiority when they meet in all northern affairs encounter at 12noon
.Lastly it will be Kwara versus Oyo in a do or die confrontation at about 1:30pm.
The quarter final matches will take place at the Kano pillars Stadium on Wednesday.
