International Accounting Day: Accountants remain enviable assets to the economy – Oyolola

Accountants have been described as important professionals and ‘enviable assets’ who are crucial to smooth running of a nation’s economic growth.
This was said by ICAN Chairman, Kwara Chapter, Mr. Suliaman Ade Oyolola, FCA while speaking to Newsmen at the Institute Secretariat in Ilorin in commemoration of the International Accounting day, a day which celebrates the Accounting profession.
The Chairman in his words said, “Today, we are celebrating about 55,000 ICAN members whose invaluable contributions to National development and other organizations with entire economy remains an enviable asset”.
Oyolola stressed on the efficient and effective roles of accountants as managers of scarce resources in our society and they must be recognized as such
“ICAN members are key global players in Boardroom vital decisions and action plan(s) while their advisory roles to different tiers of government and private sector cannot be over emphasized”. Oyolola noted.
He also described the day as, “a well deserved global appreciation of the roles of Accountants in its schedules and supportive services and as well as serving as a guide to investors, budget preparation and execution among many of its responsibilities”.


He however expressed his satisfaction with the conduct of members of the body by upholding discipline and adding value to the society through their professional skills and commitment.
The ICAN Chairman further charged the members to keep the flag of success flying higher, and they should keep on promoting the noble profession.
