KWSG dissolves 7th Kwafeast organising committees
Barely three weeks after the 7th Kwara State Sports Festival ended, the Main Organising Committee (MOC) and all the Local Organising Committees (LOC) were on Wednesday dissolved.
Announcing the dissolution at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, the chairman (MOC) and Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Joana Nnazua Kolo, thanked all the members of the various Committees for their commitment and spirit of altruism exhibited during the festival.
The Commissioner observed that it was very pleasant working with the members, whom she described as a group of diligent and reliable captains, eulogising them for their roles and feats achieved during the fiesta.
She noted that the efforts of the Committees, in their respective capacities, before and throughout the period of the festival crystalised into the big success recorded instaging of the festiva.
Kolo disclosed that she had received satisfactory reports from the various Committees which cwill be forwarded to the Governor of the State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for proof of transparency.
She further revealed that the Ministry is preparing for the 20th National Sports Festival, tagged “Edo 2020” which will hold on the 22nd of March, 2020, in Edo State.
Appreciating the devotion of Governor Abdulrazaq-led administration to revolutionising sports by diverting the attention of the youths from engaging in social vices to committing potentials to productive ventures in the State, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji AbdulQuadir Shuaib Akanbi, also used the avenue to assure the people of the ministry’s resolve to organise the 2020 Post-Primary School Sports Competition named “Kwara State Sports Talent Hunt”.
Alhaji Akanbi stated that the games will avail the State more opportunities to harvest raw talents and act as another advantage to bring together again the dissolved members ofย KWASFEST 2020 Committees.
He stressed that the dissolution of the committee was never the end of their participation in the Ministry’s sports activities as they are willing to tap from their wealth of expertise for the development of sports in the State.
The former Director of Sports of Kwara State Sports Council and member of the dissolved MOC, Mrs. Adebola Serah Esan hailed Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for making the staging of the 7th edition of the Kwara State Sports Festival a reality and advised against deviation from operating a people-oriented and youth-friendly government.
She said the Governor should not let criticisms of the just concluded festival demoralise him.
Esan, who doubles as the Vice-President, Association of Nigerian Women in Sports, thanked Governor AbdulRazaq for giving the members the opportunity to serve their State with their respective talents.
Mrs. Esan then expressed the members’ gratitude to the entire Staff of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development for the love exhibited before, during and after the festival, andย for creating enabling environment for the smooth operations of the Committees.
