Kwara govt restates commitment to improve water supply in Baruten/Kaiama
The Kwara State Government has reassured the people of Baruten and Kaiama Local Governments of the administration’s drive to improve water supply in the areas.
The state Commissioner for Water Resources, Hajia Arinola Lawal stated this during the week while on an inspection tour to Kaiama, Gure, Yashikira, Ilesha Baruba and Gwanara waterworks to ascertain the level of water supply to the communities.
Hajia Lawal, according to the release by the press secretary for water resources, Olalekan Issa-Onilu, said that her visit to Baruten and Kaiama local governments in general was in response to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq promise to ease the problem of water confronting the areas.
The Commissioner said she embarked on the tour to various waterworks in Kwara to ascertain the problems confronting them so as to address them accordingly.
She said that the ministry was working hard to meet up with the governor’s plans of ensuring the provision of potable water supply to all the nooks and crannings of the state.
According to her, “now by our assessment, we had gotten what we want from this tour, we would put all machineries in place and ensuring that all hands are on deck to put things back to normal in terms of provision of adequate water supply to the people of Kwara state”.
The Commissioner used the occasions to plead with contractors handling road construction across Kwara to be mindful of the pipes connection to avoid damage and repair the damaged ones immediately.
In their separate remarks, the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muhazu Shehu Umar Bagidi Kiyaru (iv), his Yashikira counterpart , Alhaji Usman Umar Seriki Sabi Kpasi II, and Emir of Gwanara, Alhaji Sabi Abdullahi Idris Kotokotogi II, expressed gratitude to the Governor and Commissioner, Hajjia Arinola Lawal for their steadfast, commitment, zeal and interest in Baruten and Kaiama Local government areas.
At the entourage of the Commissioner in the two days tour includes the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Afolabi Ezekiel Adesola; GM Water Corporation, Engr. Shehu Umar; Director Personnel Finance and Supply, Alhaji Shina Mudashir Akorede and Director Engineering, Engr. Sheu Abdulraheem among others.
