Security: New settlers must present recommendation letters from their monarchs – Emir of Ilorin
The Emir of Ilorin and chairman Kwara State Traditional Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has described Kwara State as the most peaceful state in the country even as he reiterated the peaceful and harmonious co-existence of the people.
He stated this on Wednesday when he hosted all the first class traditional rulers and the commissioner of police in the state, Kayode Egbetokun to a security/strategic meeting in his palace.
Sulu-Gambari added that facts have shown that there is no virgin land in the state stressing that, “new settlers must get a letter of recommendation from equivalent traditional rulers from their individual state of origin.
He noted that such letter will among other things reflect status, character, attestation, referees, reasons for relocation and record of professional career and undertaking to be of good character and conduct in his new location.
The monarch maintained that such method will curb admittance of people with questionable characters and criminal tendencies into communities in the state.
He however urged that adequate funds be provided for effective intelligence gathering which will assist in the fight against crime and criminality in the nation.
He therefore commended the commissioner of Police for sustaining the peaceful co-existence among the people of the state and promised that traditional rulers will continue to support the security agencies in their duties.
