Revealed: New Kano monarch, Ado Bayero, Emir of Ilorin are blood relations

Although Kano is practically far away from Ilorin, the new Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero has strong family ties with his counterpart in Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari.
Apart from the royal stool and tradition that binds them together, the mother of the new Kano monarch who was recently installed by the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje is the aunt to the Emir of Ilorin and a younger sister to the late queen mother according to palace sources last night.
According to findings, the mother of the Emir of Kano is a blue blood whose royalty cuts across several generations inside the emir’s palace in Ilorin before he married late Ado Bayero who was the father of new Kano monarch and a former emir.
Both Kano and Ilorin practised the Emirate traditional system which was has lasted for ages birthed by the exploit of late Uthman Dan Fodio.
According to a palace source who preferred not to be named, the mother of the new emir and the emir of Bichi in Kano, Nasiru Ado Bayero, is the granddaughter of the 7th Emir of Ilorin, late Shuib Bawa who ruled from 1914-1919.
“She is the granddaughter of late 7th Emir of Ilorin, Shuaib Bawa (1914-1919), a daughter of the late 8th emir of Ilorin, AbdulKadir Bawa (1919-1959) and in-law to late 9th Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Sulu Gambari (1959-92).
“She is also a sister to late 10th emir of Ilorin, Aliyu AbdulKadir (1992-95) and aunty to the current and 11th emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari” adding that “she is the younger sister of late mother of the present emir of Ilorin”.
It was further gathered that she is also the mother of the wife of the deposed emir Muhammad Sanusi II Sa’adiyya.
