Niger spends N4bn on water supply for 5 communities
The Commissioner for Water Resources in Niger State, Engr. Yusuf Suleiman has disclosed that the state government has spent over N4 billion on water facilities in five urban communities to achieve adequate water supply in the state.
Suleiman made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen in Minna over the weekend.
These facilities, according to him are in Minna, Bida, Suleja, Kontogora and New Bussa.
The Commssioner added that the state also key into the USAID, United States agency for international development programme called E-Wash so as to help in meeting the demand for potable water in the state.
As dicey as water situation in the world particularly in Nigeria, he said that the present administration in the state had worked tirelessly to address the challenge since 2015.
He, however, explained that the situation is left with a challenge of distribution, which he blamed on lack of steady and uninterrupted power supply.
