Covid-19: Kwara Deputy Speaker, House Leader, Commissioner distribute food stuff, cash to constituents

The Deputy Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Raphael Adetiba Olanrewaju has distributed 43 bags of rice to the people of Oke-Ero and Ekiti Local Government Areas of the state as Covid-19 induced self isolation relief materials.

Eleven of the 43 bags were from the state Commissioner for Finance and Planning, Mrs Olasunbo Florence Oyeyemi.

The Deputy Speaker had earlier distributed over 2,000 bottles of hand sanitizers and same quantity of hand wash liquid soap to the people to promote a culture of regular hand wash to stave off contracting coronavirus.

In a related development, monetary relief packages were extended to 40 party leaders, youth and women in Oke – Ero and Ekiti Local Government Areas of the state.

Speaking shortly after distribution, Hon Adetiba-Olanrewaju said the relief materials were necessary to reduce the pains the people of the areas are likely to face as a result of the self isolation and social distancing order to check contracting covid-19.

“There is no doubt that the stay at home order will impact negatively on our people who are mostly farmers and artisans who eke daily living.

It, therefore, behoves on us as elected representatives of the people to asauge the pains that come with the partial lockdown as a result of covid-19 pandemic”, he said.

He added that the gesture was to complement the efforts of the state government in bringing succour to the people of the state.

On why they extended the relief materials to Ekiti Local Government Area, Hon Adetiba-Olanrewaju said: ” the people of Oke Ero and Ekiti constituencies are kith and kin with same heritage”.

He also noted that the extension of the relief materials to Ekiti Local Government Area was in support of the representative of the constituency in the state Assembly, Hon Ganiyu Gabriel Abolarin.

The Deputy Speaker commended the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for the proactive anti covid-19 measures he has put in place in the state.

He described as “trailing blazing and noteworthy” the Governor’s donation of his salary since May 2019 to date to tackle coronavirus in the state.

Meanwhile about 1500 residents in five wards that constitute Magaji-Ngeri in Ilorin West local government area of Kwara on Sunday received 10 kilogramme of semovita and sanitizers as a palliative measure to assist them during the current stay-at-home policy of the state government.

The distribution of semovita and sanitizers was at the instance of the House Leader at the Kwara House of Assembly, Alhaji Olawoyin Abubakar-Magaji.

The House Leader while distributing the items said he embarked on the gesture to assist residents in his constituency live a comfortable life during the stay at home period.

Abubakar-Magaji added that the gesture was also aimed at complimenting the state government preventive measures against the outbreak of the corona virus in all parts of the state.

The House Leader advised the people of the state to abide with all government directives on prevention of the scourge and maintain personal hygiene at all times.

He said the two items were distributed to some indigents people in Magaji-Ngeri ward regardless of political patties affiliations or background.

The APC Women Leader, Magaji-Ngeri ward, Hajia Bukola Yusuf and the party; APC chairman, Warah ward, Alhaji Ibrahim Amuda commended the feature of the House Leader.

They said the two items were distributed to intended people in the constituency to assist them during the stay at home period.

Two of the beneficiaries of the gesture, Mrs Rashidat lsiaq and Mallam Abdulkareem Galadima thanked the House Leader for the gesture.
