Community cautions land owners against harassment

Customary land owners in Idi-ose Aribidesi community, Okolowo in Ilorin South Local Government of Kwara State, have been warned against harassing or intimidating landlords
This was contained in a press statement jointly signed by the Chairman of Landlords in the community, Alhaji Abdulateef Olanipon and the secretary, Alhaji Daud Kajola, which was made available to newsmen in Ilorin, on Wednesday.
The statement alleged that hired thugs launch unprovoked attack on innocent residents in the community.
The statement explained that some sponsored thugs in their large numbers usually storm community to disrupt work at building sites over pretext that they are the original land owners.
It’s said the plots of land was legally acquired by the landlords which was also allocated to each beneficiaries since 2007 by Ilorin South Local Government authority for development after full payment with evidence.
According to the statement, the entire Idi-ose Aribidesi land was aquired by Ilorin South Local Government in 2007 and compensations was fully paid to all families concerned.
“It was a surprise that Ologede family that had been earlier compensated by the local government for aquired lands can later come back years with thugs to to reclaim the same plots of land that were legally sold out with genuine documents.
The statement further said members of the community are law abiding citizen who don’t want to take law into their hands and always ready to give peace a chance in the area for the progress and development of the community.
“We are appealing to the Ologede family, to stop intimidating residents and land owners, urging them to stop harrashment of innocent landlords, charging them to channel their grivances if any to the appropriate concerned authorities.
“We therefore, called on the peace loving Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq who have zero tolerance for thuggery, indiscipline and any forms of cheating to urgently steps into the matter Before further damage is done to lives and property”, statement pleaded.
