Jumat prayer still on hold in Ilorin – Council of Ulamas
The Kwara State Council of Ulama has restated that the weekly Jumua’at prayer is still on hold in Kwara State even as it said the weekly congregational prayer will commence across the state on as soon as the committee complete its consultations with stakeholders and government authority.
The Secretary of the Committee, Justice Salihu Olohuntoyin Muhammed, said this in a statement issued on Thursday in Ilorin.
He noted that this followed the directive of the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.
According to the statement, “I am directed to inform Muslim Ummah that Jumat prayers will commence as soon as the ongoing deliberations by the Kwara State Council of Ulamau, government representatives and relevant stakeholders is completed.
He however appealed to Muslim Ummah to remain calm and resolute on the fact the authority is taking serious caution against the spread of COVID-19 infection among worshippers in the state.
The group also urged religion leaders to adhere strictly to the instruction in a bid to support the government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), in their fight against the global pandemic in the state.
