Ecobank in its avowed commitment to bring banking closer to the people, has launched Ecobankpay zone in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Wednesday.
The Ecobankpay is digital payment options , designed to deliver unified and instant service across a range of interconnected payment solutions.
Speaking at the launch, the Executive Director of the bank, Mr. Biyi Olagbami who described Ecobank as a leading brand in digital payment in Africa, said the innovation is to improve trade and commerce in the country.
Olagbami, who launched the digital payment zone explained that the EcobankPay zone is to facilitate easy and convenient transactions, as well as boost business activities in Nigeria.
He reiterated determination of the bank to ensure customers get quality banking transactions and good business dealings, adding that the Pan African bank has over 400 branches and 1,000 branches in Africa with presence in 36 African countries.
Also speaking, the Area Manager, Kwara and Osun states, Mr. Victor Inyang disclosed that the digital payment zone has been launched in seven locations in Lagos.
According to him, Kwara is the first state in the North Central and South West where the Ecobankpay has been launched, urging people to embrace the innovative payment solution.
He explained that Ecobankpay zone is an area where there is concentration of digital payment solutions such as POS, the Xpresspoint and Ecobankpay.
He stated that the Ecobankpay, is currently the flagship of Ecobank products, which is cardless and easy to use for transaction in any part of the world.
“The unique service of the product is that anyone from any bank in Nigeria can pay with any phone by scanning QR code or using USSD,” Inyang further explained.
Introducing the Ecobankpay, the Product Manager, Mr. Bayo Kejawa said the digital payment involves less of cash and more of mobile services, adding that it makes operations and cash management more efficient.
He further said that the product will create payment convenience for good and services for customers and non- customers and growing various businesses across the country.
