Kaiama-Kishi Road: KWSG threatens to terminate contract
The contractor handling the construction of Kaiama-Kishi road project has been directed to double his effort and show more commitment to the pace of work or risk termination of the contract.
The Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Aro Yahaya gave this directive during his inspection visit to the project site recently.
The Commissioner stated that Messr Rocad Construction Ltd was awarded the contract for Section 1 and expected to be completed within 24months, he however expressed his displeasure on the slow pace of work at the site and warned the contractor to deliver the project on schedule.
Aro Yahaya warned that failure to deliver 5km surface dressing before the end of August will necessitate the state government to initiate and commence process of terminating the contract and awarding it to a more committed contractor.
Responding, the Managing Director of Rocad Constructions , Mr Rogers pledged enhanced performance while assuring that the project will be delivered on schedule. He pleaded for the understanding of the state government, Emir of Kaiama and other stakeholders.
The assessment team accompanied by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Yusuf Garba Manjo and the Director, Civil Engineering of the ministry. The team had earlier paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Omar.
