Farmer macheted pregnant wife to death after nightmare in Ilorin

A 30-year-old farmer, Baba Musa who allegedly murdered his wife after
a terrible nightmare was on Monday remanded in prison custody by a
magistrate court, sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The defendant, was said to have macheted his wife to death after
having a dream that he is going to die.
For not wanting to leave his wife behind after he might have died, he
decided to murder his wife, the police First Information Report (FIR)
revealed.
The report stressed that the case was transferred from Divisional
Police Headquarters, Patigi, Kwara State to the Criminal Investigation
and Intelligence Department (CIID), Ilorin for discreet investigation.
The FIR added that on 17 May, 2019, the Village Head of Kusogi
village, Patigi, Muazu Audu Madami reported at the Divisional Police
Headquarters, Patigi that one Baba Musa of Kosogi, village Patigi
macheted his pregnant wife, Hauwa Musa to death.
During police investigation, Musa confessed that there was no previous
misunderstanding between him and his wife.
He also confessed further that it was the dream he had that he would
be killed that informed the murder of his wife.
He was dragged before Magistrate Abdulrahman Bello forย  culpable
homicide contrary to section 221 of penal code law.
The prosecutor, Zacheaus Folorunsho prayed the court to remand the
defendant in prison custody, arguing that the matter is not ordinarily
bailable.
He submitted that the court should consider the Administrative
Criminal Justice Law of Kwara State, 2018.
According to him, attached to the FIR a motion exparte, an affidavit
of 10 paragraphs deposed to by one Sergeant Mohammed Kamaldeen of the
SCIID.
In his ruling, Magistrate Bello remanded the defendant in prison
custody while the case was adjourned to 17 July, 2019.
