Kwara Drug Control Committee seeks collaboration with NOA

The Kwara State Drug Control Committee has appealed for a strong collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA), to stem the tide of drug abuse in the State.
The Chairperson of the Committee in the State, Pharmacist Barakat Olarewaju made the appeal when she paid a visit to the agency’s office in Ilorin.
Pharmacist Olarewaju said that the Committee had embarked on more sensitization programmes and health talks with a view to educating the citizenry on the dangers of drug abuse.
She explained that her Committee sensitized different communities across the State in line with the health agenda of the present Administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who she described as being the committee’s backbone since inception.
The State’s Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mr Olusegun Adeyemi commended the efforts of the committee at getting rid of drug abuse in the State, noting that such efforts had yielded positive results.
Mr Adeyemi, who told the Chairperson that NOA had been partnering with the Committee in the past, assured them that such partnership would continue until a zero-tolerance for drug abuse is achieved in the State.
The NOA boss further emphasized the need to join hands to sensitize the citizens and pledged his unflinching support to ensure the overall success of the Committee.
