Gunmen stab, abduct Kwara doctors

…victim’s whereabouts unknown after 3days

Gunmen on Saturday attacked two Kwara doctors kidnapping one of them in the process, Dr Toyeeb Yusuf who was travelling to his place of work in Niger State.
The incident which happened along Ogbomoso-Ilorin express way, close to Eyenkorin, led to the stabbing of the victim’s colleague and friend, Dr. Jaiyeola, in the chest while he (Yusuf) was assisting him to fix a flat tyre.
It was gathered that Dr. Jaiyeola later managed to drive himself to a nearby clinic (Abogunrin) where he received first aid overnight before the Nigeria Medical Association, Kwara State chapter facilitated his movement to the Ilorin General Hospital where he is presently receiving treatment.
Although the car of the abducted doctor has been located by his colleagues along Ogbomoso express way, his whereabouts is still unknown with his abductors yet to make any demand or contact, it was learnt.
Speaking on the issue last night in a telephone interview, the secretary of Kwara NMA, Dr AbdulRasheed Tijani said the association is working assiduously with the security agencies to ensure his release.
“We are working assiduously on the issue and we were the one that rescued the doctor who was stabbed. He has been treated and his doing fine now. But as regards his colleague that was kidnapped, we don’t have any information on him yet. However we are working with all the security agencies to ensure his safe release.
He further solicited for anyone with useful information on his whereabouts to contact the association adding that the body has reached out to their counterparts in Niger and Oyo to help locate him.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Ajayi Okasanmi last night on the issue were not successful. He did not pick several calls put across to him.
