Ex- Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Peter Rufai has described his encounter with the late Argentina legend, Diego Maradona as a fulfilled one.
Rufai stated this while answering questions from our reporter via telephone chart on Sunday.
According to him, ‘playing with Diego Maradona at the US ’94 world cup was a mission fulfilling one for me.’
“I had an encounter with him in 1994 world cup. I feel fulfilled playing against one of the greatest player of this generation when Nigeria faced Argentina during that year world cup.
‘It was like a fulfilment of a long dream for me playing with him. Maradona was exceptional in his generation. We have not had somebody like him, ‘ Dodo Mayana said.
The ex- international added that it will be difficult for someone to occupy the vacuum left behind by the late legend.
“To be honest, I will describe Maradona as somebody who bring smile in the face of football fans. In the other hands, he is somebody once he is on the pitch, football is anything for him.
“He played with all his heart, very crafty. We have not had somebody like him, the same with Pele. It would be difficult for someone to take up his shoe in the global football arena.
“It was an honour to play against him, to share the same pitch with him, to see him move. Maradona is someone that many people dream of just meeting but a few of us were fortunate to actually play on the same pitch with him. “Rufai concluded.
