IWCC commissions women training centre in Kwara

A Kwara based Non Governmental Organisation, International Women Communication Centre (IWCC), Wednesday commissioned Kwara South IWCC Women Institute Training Centre in Ajase Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
The event was attended by the Olupo of Ajase – Ipo, Oba Sikiru Atanda, his chiefs and people of the community.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Director, IWCC, Dr. Nimota Giwa Goroso said the desire to impact lives prompted her to establish the centre.
“My desire in life has been to do something greater than me, which is service to humanity.
“Before my father died, he established a public primary schools in 1956 for the people of Ilorin and founded Talaka Parapo Political Group in 1955 among other contributions.
“I am highly motivated by the humanitarian spirit of my late father and always wish to contribute my quota towards the promotion of the rights and growth of women in terms of economic empowerment and sustainable livehood.
“So, our coming to Ajase Ipo and the Kwara South at large cannot be exceptional,” Goroso stressed.
She added that the purpose for opening of Ajase Ipo centre was borne out of the desire to serve women in different parts of the Kwara South Senatorial District.
“We are opening the Ajase Ipo branch of the centre to serve women in different parts of the Kwara South Senatorial District. Very soon, we are going to open branches in Lafiagi and Malete to serve the good people of Kwara North.
“It is also our desire at the IWCC to open more of these vocational centres in different parts of the country to better impact on lives of the less – privileged,” the woman right activist said.
She however alluded to the fact that the centrality of Ajase Ipo at the heart of Kwara South spur the establishment of IWCC training centre in the community.
“My support for the establishment of the IWCC Training Centre in Ajase Ipo Community was desirable, because of its centrality towards spreading the development agenda across the larger communities in the Kwara South, ” she added.
Earlier, the Oba of Ajase Ipo, His Royal Highness, Oba Sikiru Atanda Sanni commended the Director of IWCC for deeming his abode the rightful place to site the training centre.
The first class monarch then called on well to do personalities in the state to emulate Dr. Goroso by towing her path in humanity services.
