KWSG to revamp water facilities

The Kwara State Government has disclosed plans to revamp water facilities across the state to facilitate better supply of water to residents of the state.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Com. Yusuf AbdulKadir, made this known while on a familiarisation tour to Asa Dam and some water works in Ilorin metropolis, last week.
The Commissioner, who lauded Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for his initiative to ensure that no part of the state is left out in the execution of developmental projects, observed that there are some faulty facilities to be repaired and replaced in some of the water works in the state.
He said the government is ready to revamp them for the good people of the state to continue to enjoy the benefits of democracy.
The ministry boss, who was conducted round the water sites by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Adesola Ezekiel Afolabi, and the General Manager of the Kwara State Water Corporation, Alhaji Tunde Omoniyi Yahaya, stated that government will work on every observation noted in the course of the tour to aid improved water supply in the state.
He noted that the Kwara State Government will also ensure that all the surroundings of dams and water stations are regularly cleared to retain the hygienic status of the stations.
He therefore called on the Ministry of Environment to always inspect the surroundings of dams and water stations in the state.
The familiarisation tour whose itinerary comprised Asa dam, Western Reservoir and some other water stations within Ilorin metropolis was a continuation of the maiden tour of the Commissioner to water stations in Asa Local Government in the previous week.
On the Commissioner’s entourage were the Director, Water Resources, Engr. Yusuf Wopa, the AGM Water Corporation, Engr. Bolujoko among others.
