Ilorin radio presenter raises alarm over threat to life by Gov Abdulrazaq loyalists because of love for Saraki

A popular presenter and chairman of Kwara State Chapter of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigerian (FIBAN), Abimbola Oluwaseun Adesemowo (Ade Gogo) has raised the alarm over threat to his life by persons believed to be loyal to Governor Abdurrahman Abdulrazaq because of his professed love for former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
The FIBAN chairman who raised the alert during a special edition of the programme “Ifokanbale” held on Harmony FM featured member representing Balogun/Ojomu state constituency in Offa Local Government Area, Hon Saheed Popoola.
He said he has been receiving death threats from some people who wanted him to stop mentioning the name of Saraki during his programme.
According to him, his attackers had once stormed his residence in Ilorin and deflated the four tyres of his car in a bid to intimidate and threatened him adding that “I have reported all them to the appropriate quarters.
Narrating what transpired between them, Adesemowo said they initially offered him N20,000 for him to pretend that he was sick so as not to anchor the special edition of the programme which he refused.
“Let me use this opportunity to announce and report to the entire world that people are after me and they said they will drive me out of Ilorin that they will kill me.
“They said I should not come and anchor the programme. I married a Kwaran lady and I have spent 18 years in Ilorin with children.
“They are linking me with former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki that he is the one sponsoring the programme and giving me money and car.
“If I have any link with Saraki, my life would have been better than this. I am saying this publicity on radio that I have never met Saraki one on one or sit with him to ask for any favour. The car they talking about was bought with money I took from corporative society.
“I don’t have any dealings/connection with Saraki, he has never given me a dime and he is not the one sponsoring the programme. They said he was the one given me money to be mentioning his name anytime I am on radio and promoting him.
“It is true that I naturally love Saraki, but what is the crime in that?
“I will announce to the world all those who have been after me. They came to meet me on the eve of this programme that I should not come to anchor it and offered me N20 thousand to claim that I am sick and stay in the hotel, Imagine. They have once came to my house and deflated the four tyres of my vehicle.
“But I thank Almighty Allah and the good people of Kwara State who have stood solidly behind me all these days despite their death threats and evil plotting”, the Adesomowo noted.
It could not e confirmed whether the case has been reported at the police station. When contacted last night for further, the FIBAN chairman who said he was out of town requested that will speak more on the issue when he returns.
