Speaker promises improved welfare package for Assembly staff

The Speaker, Kwara state House of Assembly, Hon Yakubu Danladi has promised improved welfare package for the staff of the Kwara state House of Assembly.
Hon. Yakubu made this disclosure, during an interactive session with the principal officers and staff of various departments of the House.
The Speaker, who was accompanied by other principal officers of the House appealed for the support and cooperation of the staff and further charged them on punctuality, loyalty and sincerity in discharging their duties.
“The door is not open for negativity and retrogressive discourse, we are in for progressive legislation which cannot be achieved without your cooperation”, he said.
He said “the enough is enough we said during campaign is not about Saraki or PDP, but about individuality. It should start with us all. We must check ourselves and be conscientious of what we do and be sure they are right”.
The Speaker further called on the Assembly staff to protect the image of the 9th legislature through their conducts, noting that the world is now a digital village and they don’t want to be embarrassed by conduct of any employee.
Speaking on behalf of the staff, the Clerk of the State assembly, Hajia Jummai Kperogi, implored leadership of the 9th House of Assembly to offer support to the workforce whenever need arises and promised they will reciprocate by giving maximum support that will enhance outstanding performance.
The employees who appreciated the Speaker for finding it worthy to engage them, implored the leadership of the 9th House of Assembly to look into the areas of some understaffed departments and staff training and capacity development, noting that the last time they were sponsored for any form of capacity development training was about 8years ago.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has visited the Kwara state House of Assembly for a firsthand assessment of the legislative complex.
The governor who was welcomed by the Speaker, Hon Yakubu Danladi inspected the complex whose roof of some offices was blown off by the rain during the twilight of the tenure of the 8th assembly.
The Speaker who expressed concern over the issue requested the governor’s speedy intervention to renovate them before the rains.
The governor promised to complete the left over projects of the previous administrations within the Assembly and also include renovation of the offices allocated to the lawmakers in his quick fix list as he can’t afford to have anything delay the House of Assembly from playing their expected roles in building a Kwara that works for all.
