Magaji Nda harps on state police to curb insecurity

The Magaji Nda of Ilorin, Alhaji Soliu Woru Mohammed on Sunday in the state capital officially commissioned a new multi-million naira edifice even as he called for the creation of state police to curb the security situation in the state.
The structure, which was commissioned by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammad Bashir Soliu held at Nda’s compound, Emir Palace, Ilorin was described as a manifestation of loyalty to the Alimi dynasty and the emirate in general.
The Grand Mukadam of Ilorin, Sheikh Suleiman Danborno described the project as a challenge to other chiefs in Ilorin emirate.
He added that the edifice symbolise a befitting edifice for the Magaji Nda and urged other chiefs and traditional rulers to do everything possible to reflect the honour and status bestowed upon them.
He commended Magaji Nda for his efforts at honouring his forefathers through the construction of the edifice and urged him to sustain the legacy.
The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammad Bashir Soliu who stood in for the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahm Sulu-Gambari led the special prayer to mark the commissioning and prayed God to grant the Magaji Nda long life and prosperity.
While praying for peaceful reign of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the Chief Imam also prayed for peace and stability of the state and Nigeria at large.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the commissioning of the edifice, the Magaji Nda of Ilorin, Alhaji Saliu Woru Mohammad said the idea of reconstructing the building where the first Emir of Ilorin, Sheikh Abdulsalam first settled, was to honour, remember and appreciate Sheikh Alimi and his ancestors for their contributions to Islam and humanity in general.
He said there was nothing he could do that would be too much to honour the revered Sheikh and his ancestors for their commitment towards improving humanity.
Magaji Nda appreciated the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari for appointing him as the 11th Magaji Nda of Ilorin, promising to continue to be loyal to Sheikh Alimi dynasty and also thanked the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki over his appointment as a member of National Geological Research Institute.
Magaji Nda used the occasion to advocate for the establishment of State Police or posting of certain numbers police personnel to their various communities as a way of addressing the problem of insecurity in the country.
He said with the establishment of state police or posting of certain number of police personnel to their various communities, it would assist the police to understand the terrain where they operate.
He said the incidents like the recent Offa bank robbery could only be averted if the police are assisted through adequate and timely information.
The event had in attendance the Baloguns, Alanguas and Magajis in Ilorin Emirate and several other dignitaries.
