Court remands mechanic for allegedly defiling 13-year-old girl

A Magistrate Court in Ilorin on Friday ordered that a mechanic, Azeez Kasali, be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly defiled a 13-year-old girl in Ilorin.
The police charge Kasali with two counts of Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of a Child contrary to the provisions of Section 32 of Kwara Child Rights Law.
The defendant (Kasali), however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Magistrate Shade Lawal who presided over the matter, ordered that the defendant to be remanded in Oke-kura Correctional Centre, Ilorin.
Lawal further adjourned the case to March 10 for further mention.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Sgt. Akinjide Adisa had told the court that the defendant lured the minor who was on her way to fetch water and defiled her on February 23, 2021.
He said that the complainant, Kolawole Sherif, reported the case at the Ganmo Police Station in Ilorin.
Adisa who said that investigation into the matter was still ongoing however prayed the court to remand the defendant.
