The people of Irewolede Temidire in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State have lamented neglect by the Kwara State government.
The Chairman of the community, Sanni Tajudeen stated this on Thursday during a chat with our reporter in his office.
According to him, ‘Irewolede community has never felt impact of Kwara State government despite tax remittance to government coffers.
“This place has existed for over 20 years now , we have never felt government impact in terms of developmental projects. The little projects here were solely executed by the community.
“On this, we had written a letter to the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq that he should come to our aid. As tax payers, we don’t know why we are being neglected by the government.
“We appreciate efforts by the former executive of the community, but despite that our challenges at Irewolede Temidire still stare us in the face.
“Our major problem is insecurity which we have been trying in our capacity to ameliorate. We were able to put in place community policing.
“However, things have not been easy for us in the community because government have not been complementing us. We appeal to the government to come to our aid,” Sanni added.
He however appealed for a polling booth in the community to lessen the problem faced by people in the area during election period.
“One of the important thing we need here is a polling booth. The population of this area has grown. We have over 10 thousand eligible voters here with no polling booth to exercise our franchise.
“Most of us during elections had to travel down to where we lived before. So these are the major things we want government to do for us.
In the same vein, the Vice Chairman of the community, Dr. Gbadebo F.O. appealed to state government for motorable road networks in the community.
“During the raining season, it is always difficult for us here. We needs government support.
“On the polling booth, we plead that government should make it available for us. For a long time, we have been disfranchised as a result of this,” he stressed.
