By Ahmed Ajikobi
The Magaji Nda of Ilorin, Alhaji Soliu Woru Muhammed has given kudos to National Pilot Newspaper, SBS FM and other print and electronic media houses for the role being played during the holy month of Ramadan in encouraging Muslims faithful observing the obligatory fasting.
In an interview with our reporter on Friday, he commended the radio stations in the state particularly the SBS FM for being professional in the discharge of their role during the Ramadan period.
While explaining that the purpose for establishing a radio outfit is to inform, educate and entertain members of the public, he said
“SBS FM that started just six months ago, amidst yearning of the members of the public, is doing well. As a journalist too, I give kudos to the General Manager, Masโ€™ud Adebimpe for coming up with good programmes during this Ramadan.
“Most of our radio stations; Sobi FM, Radio Kwara, Oโ€™FM among others are doing great jobs, their programmes are very educative, entertaining and informative. I commend them for not allowing anything that could disrupt the prevailing peace in the state, go on air.”
Magaji Nda further lauded National Pilot newspaper for its responsible journalism and not publishing reports that could jeopardise the peace within the state, or pitch one religious group against another.
He, therefore, appealed to the publisher of National Pilot, former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki to support the medium for wider reach in the North Central zone.
“In anticipation of the politics of the 2023 elections, it’s time for the publisher to encourage the staff of this medium, which has been performing excellently well.
“I will also encouraged the publisher to explore other forms of media such as radio and television. Apart from using it to promote his political interest it will also create employment opportunities for our youths, it will also create awareness about our state.
“I believe he (Saraki) is coming back, but I will suggest he takes his politics to the grassroots and involve the youths, he should start making consultation with the people.โ€
