Veteran actor, Sadiq Daba diagnosed with Leukaemia

 

Nollywood veteran actor and broadcaster, Sadiq Daba, has been diagnosed with leukaemia.

Film maker, Sonny Mcdon-w, shared the said news on Facebook.

He wrote: “Dear colleagues and friends in Nollywood, especially some of us that date back to NTA days. Please put a call to Uncle Sadiq Daba. He needs your voice of strength please…. 08024343157.”

A former broadcaster, Sadiq won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as Inspector Waziri in Kunle Afolayan’s film October 1.

He also starred in a myriads of films, soap operas and dramas popular in the 80’s and 90’s like, Cock Crow at Dawn, Behind the Clouds, A Place like Home, Soweto, and Moment of Truth.

Iconic broadcaster and actor Sadiq Daba has let it be known that although he is undergoing treatment for the potentially life-threatening disease, leukaemia; contrary to reports, he is not dead or dying.

Several news outlets had reported the Kano born actor was in the throes of death as a result of the cancer, which attacks the blood and blood marrow.

However, Daba has reassured his fans that he is in no danger of death and is being treated. Former entertainment journalist Azuka Jebose communicated via his Facebook page, quoting Sadiq Daba as saying:    ‘The leukemia has been arrested. I will be okay…’   I am not dead nor dying !!! God has been and will Always be faithful to me and my plight, because that is my covenant with Him !!! My doctors have been wonderful and I am responding to treatment. …..My love and thanks to all those who have called to sympathise and empathise with me…..God bless you !!!!!!
