Seni Saraki, son of the Senate President and national leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Bukola Saraki has reacted to his father’s presidential contest even as he congratulated the former Vice President, Atikju Abubakar over his victory in the party’s presidential primaries in Abuja.
Besides, Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad and the Chairman of the party in the state, Engr Kola Shittu in separate telephone chats with our reporter have also reacted to the issue describing it as a very transparent process.
Saraki who contested with 11 other aspirants including Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwwal came third with 317 votes while the latter came second.
All the aspirants have since pledged to unite and work with Atiku to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) led by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Seni who twitted at 3:56pm on Sunday via his official handle, @SeniSaraki, congratulated all the PDP team over the success of the exercise.
Apparently providing his father with emotional support, Seni is a rare reaction to political issues concerning his father, advised Saraki to take away the positives from the situation.
“You win some, you lose some. Congratulations to Alhaji Atiku and the whole team”, the graduate of the prestigious London Business School, noted”.
But according to Ali Ahmad, “It has been a very transparent process everybody stood by the party. The greater devil is out there in the APC and not from the party”, he submitted.
On the positives that Saraki and his supporters should take away from the primary, Ahmad said “We just come out of it and we will go back and study the situation of the delegates system and our interaction so as to perfect the system.
“I was in the arena and everybody I spoke with said Saraki would have been the best president at this point in time for us in this country. Their only worry is that he is from the North central despite the fact the region has contributed to the emergence of many past presidents and stands the best chance to pull out this country from our numerous problems. We will continue to engage them until we get what we want and what is right for us and the country”, he noted.
According to Kola Shittu, “It was a very good experience and the whole thing went very well without chaos. It was the most peaceful presidential primary I have ever seen. There was not a single fight anywhere.
“It was a proof of the real democracy we want in Nigeria and I want other parties to emulate what the PDP has done.
“For the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki who is my principal, it was a very good showing coming third in its first time despite entering the race late. There are many positives to take away from the whole thing going forward”, he noted.
