The Tax Controller of Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) in , Kwara State, Alhaji Aliyu Mahe has said epileptic service by network providers has continued to hinder smooth process of tax collection in the state.
The controller stated this during an interview with Pilot Business in Ilorin on Tuesday.
He said, “We have harmonised all transactions surrounding tax collection from the various institutions and corporate companies to be done online as it is done in other states too. But, we are sometimes confronted with frustrating network problem during the registration and payment of these revenue by our clients.
He, however, said that revenue collected last year was lower compared to previous years in review.
He said: “The turnout of revenue collection during the last fiscal year is low when compared to the previous and this could be attributed to recession.”
When asked on the ranking in the state in revenue collection he said, “If I should give you any figure now I’ll be wrong because we have submitted our performance for last year to the headquarters and they will harmonise all taxes collected by other agencies and states too before releasing it.
“You know we have other agencies like the Nigeria Customs Services that assist us in collecting revenue and they submit to our head office directly.
He assured our reporter that when the figure is available he will let the public know the total revenue generated for Kwara state in 2017 year.
