Sunday Dare declares 6th National Youth Games Open, as 32 States jostle for honour

The Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mr Sunday Dare has declared open the 6th National Youth Games holding in Ilorin with a pledge that the games will produce formidable athletes that will represent Nigeria at the African Youth Games in Dakar, Senegal next year.
The Minister who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mallam Abubakar Ismail said the annual games had served the purpose strategically designed as an effective platform for talents identification of athletes between age 15 and below.
Sunday Dare affirmed that the quality of Athletes at this year’s competition are capable of making Nigeria proud anytime, anywhere, urging federations to take the advantage of the games to gauge their sports.
He commended President Mohammed Buhari for providing an enabling environment for Sports development in the Country.


Declaring the games open, the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq lauded the Federal Ministry of Sport for consistently choosing University of Ilorin as the host, noting that the gesture had achieved the rationale behind its choice.
Mallam AbdulRazaq represented by his Deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi implored participants to play by the rules of the games and exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the games.


Thirty two states including FCT are currently taking part in the week long sporting events.
