Another set-back has hit the camps of Kwara State governorship aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC); Prof Oba AbdulRaheem and Mohammed Dele Belgore following the defection of about 1,200 supporters loyal to the duo ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The Special Adviser to the state Governor on Political Matters, Alhaji Toyin Olokooba who received the decampees, yesterday, expressed his joy over the development.
“I’m so delighted with what is happening here, a lot of people decamped, if we had used an open field, one would have seen that those that decamped are of large numbers. This is good and it is a pointer that APC cannot offer them anything if they choose to stay behind.
“For others who are still in APC, they should come out and join PDP, we believe we can take them to the promise land. As the man-in-charge of political affairs in the state, I’m so delighted with what happened today and I will report it to my two principals because we have leaders in our party.
“About a thousand teaming youths coming out like this to support the government, I’m happy and it is the beginning of good things for PDP.
Earlier, the Coordinator of the group at Oloje ward, Luqman Abdulsalam Jaji informed this medium that the development is a further attestation to the kind gestures of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki to the community.
“We’re 1,200 that decamped to PDP today. We decamped because of our unbeatable leader, Saraki, who attended to us in a way we never expected, he talked to us and gave us infrastructure and projects in our community. We thank him a lot for his deeds, we want more development in our community. We, supporters of Prof. Oba Abu, Dele Belgore are tired and we are no longer following them. We want federal appointment…” he stressed.
